Microneedling

Natural Collagen Induction Therapy

SkinPen Precision Microneedling

Our microneedling treatments using the SkinPen Precision system harness the skin's natural healing response to stimulate collagen and elastin production, resulting in firmer, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin. Using state-of-the-art medical microneedling devices with precision-controlled needles, we can effectively address fine lines, scarring, enlarged pores, and uneven skin texture. Each treatment can be enhanced with targeted serums and bio-stimulators, including exosomes, for accelerated results.

What Is Microneedling and Collagen Induction Therapy?

Microneedling treatment with SkinPen Precision uses a set of very thin needles to create micro-channels in the skin that penetrate the layers by a few millimetres.

This controlled injury does two things. Firstly, it stimulates the body's natural wound-healing responses, releasing cytokines and growth factors to repair and renew the skin, working as a Collagen Induction Therapy. Secondly, the micro-channels create a direct route into the skin to deliver active ingredients for regeneration and targeted treatments.

What Are the Benefits of Microneedling?

Using the SkinPen Precision microneedling device helps target the signs of ageing, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots, and improving skin texture concerns.

It also improves the appearance of scarring, including acne and chicken pox scars, and stretch marks. Suitable for all skin types and colours, it can be used on all parts of the face and body where targeted intervention is needed to rejuvenate the skin and resolve scars. The type of skin concern will determine the depth of microneedling and the combination of serums used during treatment.

Natural Results

Natural Results

At Forever Facial Aesthetics, our goal is to improve your skin quality, using natural, regenerative treatment options where suitable. Microneedling allows us to achieve that goal, stimulating your body's own natural repair mechanisms and feeding this regeneration with effective topicals applied during and after treatment for optimal healing and tissue restoration.

Tailored Treatments

Tailored Treatments

The beauty of Collagen Induction Therapy is that the depth of penetration and impact of the micro-needles can be adjusted according to the area and skin concern being treated. Alongside the addition of active topical serums, including biostimulators, like exosomes, we can truly customise the course of treatment to achieve significant improvement in many skin problems.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

Consultation

Your journey into Collagen Induction Therapy with microneedling begins with a comprehensive skin analysis and consultation with our skin specialist aesthetician, with oversight from Dr Annette Phillips for more complex scarring and skin concerns. Using the Observe Skin Analysis System, we can identify problem areas and recommend the most appropriate microneedling course of treatment to actively target the skin to the depth needed for optimal collagen stimulation to deliver the best outcomes.

Treatment

Microneedling courses are delivered as a course of treatment for optimal effect; depending on the specific concern, we may recommend 4–6 treatments spaced 2–4 weeks apart. Your skin specialist will also recommend the best active ingredients and topical biostimulators to accompany the Collagen Induction Therapy sessions. At each treatment, we use the SkinPen Precision system to create temporary microchannels in your skin that allow these active serums to penetrate to the correct skin depth to get to work.

Comfort

Mild- to moderate-depth microneedling treatments are generally not uncomfortable. We use hydrogels and serums, which also act as lubricants to avoid abrasion from the needle tip during treatment.

Deeper, more intense and targeted approaches to skin rejuvenation and scar correction will be treated following the application of a topical anaesthetic or numbing cream to ensure you are pain-free throughout.

Aftercare

You can return to your normal activities immediately after a microneedling treatment, although you will look flushed. During the first 24 hours, you should expect your face to appear red, pink or slightly swollen, depending on the depth and intensity of the treatment, and for this to last for 1–2 days. In some cases, pinprick-sized scabs may form and slough off over a couple of days. You will be given full aftercare advice and the remainder of the serum applied during your treatment to use as advised at home during your recovery. We generally advise that you do not apply makeup for a few days after treatment, avoid direct sun exposure, picking, or scratching the skin.

Results

Results from microneedling are incremental, rather than immediate, due to collagen stimulation caused by the controlled trauma from the penetration of the needles a few millimetres into the skin, alongside the transfer of active ingredients through the microchannels created. Over the course of a few weeks after each of your treatment sessions, you will notice improvement in skin texture and the appearance of scarring. A course of treatment can take 3–6 months, and continued improvement will occur as the natural healing responses are triggered within your skin cells.

Are You a Candidate?

Microneedling with SkinPen Precision is a regulated medical device, cleared for the treatment of facial acne scars in adults, and improvement in the cosmetic appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, stretch marks, surgical scars, and certain sun-induced pigmentation conditions (dyschromia). If you are generally in good health, you will likely be suitable for Collagen Induction Therapy (including our pregnancy-safe option). A consultation with our skincare specialist aesthetician, or medical practitioner, will determine the best microneedling treatment course. They will recommend active biostimulators that are most suitable to address your skin concerns. Our multi-disciplinary team, including Dr Annette Phillips, allows us to address more complex scarring cases, using customisable protocols.

Advanced Rejuvenation Microneedling

An advanced and intensive Collagen Induction Therapy option for skin rejuvenation, this programme uses a deeper microneedling protocol with a needle depth of 1–1.5mm to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Treatment takes approximately 90 minutes.

To ensure your comfort throughout the procedure, we will apply a topical anaesthetic, or numbing cream, to your skin before treatment starts. A special hydrogel, called Skinfuse Lift Hydrogel, is then applied; this keeps your skin hydrated throughout and acts as a lubricant as the single-use SkinPen Precision microneedling tip is moved across your skin, protecting it from abrasion and assisting with healing. A mild skin peel is also used to enhance skin renewal. Finally, LED light therapy is applied after microneedling to calm redness, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing. You will take the remaining Skinfuse Lift Hydrogel solution home and apply it as directed during aftercare; it will support optimal post-treatment recovery and results.

Course of 4 treatments, at 4-week intervals.

Microneedling with Exosomes

A moderate-depth microneedling treatment designed to improve skin quality, tone, hydration, and resilience using advanced, regenerative exosome technology in combination with the Collagen Induction Therapy. Treatment takes approximately 75 minutes.

Due to the reduced needle depth, this treatment does not require any topical anaesthetic, and you should be comfortable throughout. A mild skin peel is also used to enhance skin renewal. It is followed by the pHformula EXOS exosome solution, which also acts as a lubricant during treatment. Formulated with cutting-edge biomimetic exosomes, encapsulated growth factors, and a DNA protect complex, EXOS will penetrate the channels created by the microneedling to actively support cellular communication, skin repair, and regeneration. It boosts cell vitality and promotes deep skin renewal. LED light therapy is applied after microneedling to calm redness, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing. You will take the remaining pHformula EXOS solution home and apply it as directed to maximise your results between treatment sessions.

Course of 6 treatments, at 2-week intervals.

Scarring & Acne Scar Revision

This is a perfect option for the treatment of isolated areas of scarring, whether acne scars, chicken pox scars, stretch marks, or other scarring associated with surgery or trauma. As a more targeted Collagen Induction Therapy, using customised microneedling depths, it is designed to revise areas of scarring by stimulating collagen remodelling and improving skin texture. Treatment takes approximately 60 minutes.

To ensure your comfort throughout the procedure, we will apply a topical anaesthetic, or numbing cream, to your skin before treatment starts. Skinfuse Lift Hydrogel is then applied; this keeps your skin hydrated throughout and acts as a lubricant as the single-use SkinPen Precision microneedling tip is moved across your skin, protecting it from abrasion, supporting advanced skin repair and regeneration, and assisting with healing. You will take the remaining Skinfuse Lift Hydrogel solution home and apply it as directed during aftercare for optimal post-treatment recovery and results.

Depending on the type and extent of your scarring, we may also recommend adding on pHformula EXOS to your treatment protocol.

Course of 6 treatments, at 4-week intervals.

MesoResurfacing

MesoResurfacing is a liquid microneedling treatment option that is needle-free and pregnancy-safe. A next-generation, no-needle alternative to traditional microneedling, it stimulates collagen, accelerates cellular renewal, and improves skin texture, tone, and firmness with minimal downtime. Treatment takes approximately 60 minutes.

Using advanced spicule technology and pHformula EXOS biomimetic exosomes concentrate, the treatment enhances oxygenation and active ingredient penetration to address concerns such as fine lines, pigmentation, acne, congestion, and uneven texture, delivering smoother, brighter, healthier-looking skin without needles. Spicules are microscopic, needle-like structures made from marine sponges that create temporary micro-channels in the top surface layer of the skin. Often called liquid microneedling or bio-needling, the spicules do not penetrate deeply enough to affect the bloodstream or require a topical anaesthetic, making it a safe option during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Course of 4 treatments, at 4-week intervals.

Healthy skin after SkinPen microneedling treatment

Microneedling is a skin remodelling treatment often called Collagen Induction Therapy. The pen-like device — SkinPen Precision — creates multiple micro-channels in the skin, up to a few millimetres deep, as the microneedle tip is moved across the surface. These controlled micro-traumas trigger a wound-healing response, encouraging the body to repair the area by producing new collagen and elastin, which regenerates the tissue in the treated area. This natural repair supports skin rejuvenation for anti-ageing and is also effective for repairing previously damaged and scarred areas. The microchannels also facilitate the penetration of active ingredients in topical serums, allowing crucial biostimulators, like exosomes, to pass beyond the skin barrier into the dermal layers where they can work most effectively, aiding the ongoing wound-healing process. This enhances the regenerative power of the treatment.

SkinPen Precision is the first medical microneedling device to be FDA-cleared in the USA, approved there for the treatment of facial acne scars and for improving the appearance of wrinkles on the neck, making it a world-leading tool for Collagen Induction Therapy. It also holds a Class IIa CE Certification in the UK as a regulated medical device for clinical use to treat facial acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, enlarged pores, and pigmentation conditions (dyschromia) on the face and body.

It has an adjustable needle depth from 0.25mm to 2.5mm.

Microneedling and Collagen Induction Therapy are ideal for targeting the signs of ageing (fine lines and wrinkles), treating certain pigmentation concerns caused by sun exposure such as dyschromia, improving poor skin texture and enlarged pores, reducing acne scarring (including ice pick, rolling and boxcar types), chicken pox scars, and stretch marks, and for improving the appearance of other scarring associated with surgery or trauma.

During some of our microneedling treatments, we apply topical biostimulators in the form of pHformula’s EXOS biomimetic exosomes concentrate. Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles that act like messengers or delivery drivers, carrying and transferring materials between cells.

EXOS is a professional-grade regenerative serum, suitable for all skin types, designed to enhance recovery after microneedling treatments. It contains biomimetic exosomes, encapsulated growth factors, and a DNA protect complex. Acting as a bio-transmitter to stimulate deeper cellular repair, it helps to reduce inflammation and redness, boost collagen for firmer skin, and accelerate skin barrier repair. For optimal results, we use it during treatment and give the remainder to you to apply at home after treatment to speed up skin recovery.

Your comfort throughout your microneedling treatment is of paramount importance to us.

Depending on the specific skin concern being treated, we customise the treatment protocols for the SkinPen Precision microneedling device. This will include the depth of needle penetration required to achieve the best results for Collagen Induction Therapy. For targeted and intensive treatments, we will always apply a topical anaesthetic or numbing cream to the area before we begin treatment.

The SkinPen Precision system is a regulated Class IIa medical device. It uses patented, single-use, non-porous needle cartridges, fitted into the tip of the handpiece, which are replaced for each use. The system has also been engineered to use a single-use plastic cover to prevent fluid from travelling from the cartridge into the handpiece, preventing cross-contamination.

Microneedling is safe to use on men and women of all skin types and colours and can be used on all parts of the face and body. Your suitability for the various treatment options will be determined during your consultation and skin analysis.

If you have broken or damaged skin, or an active skin infection, including viral infections like herpes simplex (cold sores), or active acne, this will need to be treated and resolved before microneedling treatment. If you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, we will not be able to treat you using the SkinPen Precision microneedling, but you will be suitable for our liquid microneedling option with MesoResurfacing.

After microneedling treatment, you should expect minimal downtime with a simple recovery process. You will be able to return to your normal activities immediately. For 24-48 hours, you can expect your skin to appear red or a little pink, depending on the depth of the treatment. If you have received a more targeted treatment for scar reduction, this may be more pronounced and include pinprick-sized spots of bleeding that scab over and naturally slough off after a couple of days. This is normal, and you should avoid picking, scratching or using abrasive exfoliant products on the area.

You will be given full aftercare instructions, which will include details on how to cleanse the area and how to apply any remaining serums from the solutions used during your treatment. Ideally, you should avoid wearing makeup for two days after treatment and avoid direct sun exposure for several days.

Again, depending on the intensity of treatment, you may also experience a slight swelling of the skin as a reaction to the controlled trauma. This will usually settle down after 24 hours.

Results from microneedling and Collagen Induction Therapy are not immediately visible. This is a stimulatory, regenerative treatment that relies on triggering natural wound-healing responses in the body, alongside deployment of active ingredients and biostimulators like exosomes to increase the production of new collagen and elastin for self-repair to lessen the signs of ageing or improve the appearance of scarring.

The results you will see are incremental, and why we recommend a course of treatment to achieve continuous increments. You should start to notice improvements in skin quality 2-3 weeks after your initial treatment, and the same time frame after subsequent treatments within your course of treatment. Treatment programmes are typically spread over 3 to 6 months, with treatment sessions every 2-4 weeks to allow time for natural collagen and elastin stimulation. Your final result is expected approximately 1 month after your final session.

Results from Collagen Induction Therapy for skin rejuvenation usually last up to 6 months after completion of a course of treatment, often longer for concerns related to scarring.

Depending on the targeted treatment, we may recommend maintenance microneedling sessions every 3 to 6 months.
